Creepy Mushroom Halloween House Card

Instructions:

I did make this into a slimline card so the measurements are 8.5 by 3.5. I started out with a piece of Strathmore Bristol Smooth paper. I like to do my ink blending on this cardstock because it blends so smoothly. The inks I used were Chipped Sapphire, Seedless Preserves, and Black Soot and they were all Distress Oxide inks by Tim Holtz (these also blend beautifully). I did also use a My Favorite Things Cloud Stencil that I’ve had in my stash for a long time and use OFTEN as well as Unicorn White ink from Hero Arts (alternative). I did splatter my background with a mixture of water, perfect pearls, and white gouache from Winsor & Newton (alternative).

I used a dark grey cardstock which I think was from My Favorite Things for the base of the mushroom house. The mushroom house is a die from Lawn Fawn. I cut most of the accent pieces (the roof, window frame, grass, chimney, and plants) from my favorite black cardstock which is Hero Arts Hues. It’s a nice DARK black cardstock! The ground is also cut from this which I used a stitched hillside border die from Lawn Fawn. I do not own the slimline dies for this so I used a regular die and lined it up. The “moss” coming off the side of the mushroom house is actually the Lawn Fawn Bayou Backdrop die just cut into little pieces and hidden under the roof. I liked how it added a creepy look as if no one had been there in awhile. The sentiment is from Simon Says Stamp. The stamp set is an older one called “Hand Lettered Halloween” (alternative). The bat and spider in the corners of the cards are also from this stamp set. I white heat embossed the sentiment using Versamark embossing ink.

My favorite part is the roof of the mushroom house which I filled in with Nuvo Glow Drops in Apple Sour! I have a mini bottle of these that I got in an old Simon Says stamp kit and they glow in the dark. How fun! Most of my cards are put on a Neenah 110# Solar white cardstock but for this one I went with that same Hero Hues black cardstock and I placed a piece of white cardstock inside for a message.
