Four Techniques to Create Four Cards Using Altenew’s Leaf Mix Die Set

Posted by Kara Pogreba on

Instructions:

Creating the Backgrounds:

1. Press six different Distress Inks on a craft mat, choosing colors that are close to each other on the color wheel.

2. With a paintbrush and water, pick up the ink and spread it onto a panel of Bristol smooth cardstock

3. With a paintbrush, add clean water to a panel of watercolor cardstock

4. Add a second and third layer of color, allowing the panels to dry in between

5. Speckle the ink onto the painted watercolor panel using a stiff paint brush

6. Die cut an assortment of leaves from Altenew’s Leaf Mix die set

7. Dip the leaves into the ink on the craft mat and allow them to dry

8. On a separate panel of watercolor cardstock, ink blend the same ink colors with blending brushes

9. Spray water liberally over the ink blended panel and let dry

10. Cut out the ink blended panel with a medium sized Lawn Fawn Outside In Stitched Rectangle

Embellish with Leaves

1. Die cut an assortment of the leaves from black cardstock

2. Arrange the black leaves over the ink design on the Bristol cardstock

3. Arrange black leaves onto the painted watercolor panel

4. Arrange the inked watercolor leaves onto a piece of black cardstock, creating an overall background pattern

5. Arrange more inked leaves onto the ink blended panel

6. Glue the leaves onto the panels

Add Sentiments and Complete the Cards

1. Stamp a small line sentiment from Altenew’s Hello and Hugs stamp set onto the Bristol panel in Lawn Fawn’sBlack Licorice ink, or white heat emboss the sentiment onto a strip of black cardstock and adhere to the card

2. White heat emboss the large “hello” sentiment from the same stamp set, onto a piece of black cardstock,

trimming it into a rectangle

3. Stamp a small line sentiment from the same stamp set onto a scrap of the ink blended panel and cut into a

narrow strip

4. Adhere the large “hello” sentiment and the ink blended strip onto the painted watercolor panel

5. Add Nuvo Crystal Drops in Ebony Black to the same panel

6. Die cut a small Lawn Fawn Rectangle Frame and Scripty Thanks from white cardstock and adhere to the middle

of the black with watercolor leaves panel

7. Mat the smaller ink blended panel to a larger panel in a coordinating color

8. Die cut Lawn Fawn’s A Little Note Line Border in another coordinating color and adhere it to the same panel

9. Adhere each panel to a 4.25”x5.5” notecard.
