Ever since I saw the I Scream, You Scream die set from Lawn Fawn, I had been imagining an ice cream shop with the big ice cream cone on the roof. Since the ice cream cone from Sweetest Flavor is so huge compared to the girl from Bicycle Built For You, I pulled in the Wish Big sentiment from Elphie Selfie...it made me giggle.
Step 1: I paper pieced her little dress from plaid patterned paper--it's one of my favorite things to do and it's an easy way to get a really big impact out of a simple card. Paper piecing is as simple as stamping the image you want to have a pattern on and using scissors to cut it out (in this case, the dress). I always run a black marker around my cut edges after cutting out my patterned paper--that makes it look more seamless when you glue it down. I always use liquid glue to stick my patterned paper onto my stamped and die cut image--it gives you a little bit of wiggle room to get it in the perfect position.
Step 2: I created the Sweet Shop with a couple rectangle dies and freehand cut a trapezoid shape out of white cardstock, then layered my scalloped pieces on and cut off the excess with scissors. I pulled in some "bushes" using the tree tops from Stitched Hillside Backdrop--Landscape, and the rock from Mermaid For You. Even though I used a lot of supplies, this is a really simple card to re-create. I used liquid adhesive to adhere most of my pieces together, then used foam tape to pop some items up from the background for some dimension.
Step 3: Once all of my pieces were die cut for the bushes and shop, I used a little foam blending tool to lightly blend the coordinating ink onto the cardstock edges for some dimension.
Step 4: My final touch for almost any card is adding a little bit of shimmer with a glitter brush pen like Wink of Stella, Spectrum Noir, or Nuvo. I then apply Glossy Accents wherever I want some extra shine--here, the cherry and ice cream the girl is holding is just begging for it! :) This card is larger than A2-sized (it's 5x7) because I needed a larger card base to fit everything to scale.
Lawn Fawn Sweetest Flavor Stamp LF1698 (small ice cream cone, the word "SWEET" on the shop)
Lawn Fawn Elphie Selfie LF1328 (Wish Big sentiment)
Lawn Fawn Rub A Dub Dub LF1583 (It's Your Day sentiment)
Lawn Fawn Harold's ABCs LF317 ("SHOP")
(I added some dimension to each of the die cut shapes by blending on the coordinating ink onto the edges)
