Happy Birthday Card by Kreative Kinship

A little bit about us:

Our names are Michele Schutt and Maureen Turner and we are sisters living in Western NY. We are wives, mothers and animal-lovers who happen to share a passion for paper-crafting. We both caught the scrapbooking bug about 20 years ago when our children were little. As our kids got older and more involved in sports and other activities, we found it harder and harder to carve time out of our busy lives to spend crafting. Fast forward to today and we are empty-nesters who have rekindled our paper love-affair and happily spend most of our free time immersed in the world of stamping and card-making.

We are fortunate and Blessed to only live a few miles from each other so our crafting time is almost always spent together. We have also discovered that our genetic similarities run deeper than just height and eye color as we have a strong affinity for the same styles and looks when it comes to making cards. Our likes and preferences are so similar that we rarely create anything that isn't a collaborative effort and is also the reason why we made the decision to have a single Instagram account.

Instructions for How We Created this Card:

Stamped the Critter Crew on 80# white cardstock by Neenah using Extreme Black hybrid ink by My Favorite Things because it won't smear when using Copic markers. The image was then colored using a variety of Copic markers and cut out using the coordinating die.

The Happy Birthday sentiment was stamped using a Misti stamping tool on a 5-1/4" x 4" white 80# Neenah card panel. To start, the sentiment was positioned horizontally centered on the panel and then stamped using My Favorite Things dye ink. After the sentiment was stamped, the panel was moved/slid vertically in the Misti so that the sentiment could be stamped again leaving about 1/4" of space between the two lines of text. This process was repeated until the panel was filled with multiple lines of "Happy Birthday".

The very bottom sentiment on the panel was colored using Copic markers to make it stand out. The Critter image was backed with foam tape and mounted on the Happy Birthday panel which was then mounted onto a dark teal card base. To add some finishing touches, we used our Polychromo colored pencils to add a little depth and shading here and there, Wink of Stella shimmer pen on the party hats, Glossy Accents on the critter noses and added a small white dot to the critter eyes from a Sakura Gelly Roll pen.
