Happy Fall Card by Emily

Happy Fall Card by Emily

Posted by Emily Schroepfer on 11th Nov 2019

Step 1: I used a large stitched rectangle die by Lawn Fawn to die cut a piece of Gina K. Designs Heavy Base Weight White Cardstock.

Step 2: I stamped the large greeting from (a set I designed) ”Happy Fall” in the bottom right corner to make sure I had enough space. I used the Gina K. Designs color Sweet Corn to stamp with my MISTI. After the initial stamping, I created a gradient effect by inking my stamp with a Honey Mustard ink cube on ONLY the bottom two thirds. To make a smooth blend, dab the line where the ink starts so that it isn’t a harshly stamped line of Honey Mustard across a word. I repeated this step with Faded Brick on the bottom third of the greeting. This creates a beautiful, fall inspired gradient that has more dimension than a flatly stamped image.

Step 3: For all the falling leaves, I grouped my few leaf stamps on my MISTI to stamp many at a time using the same colors as the greeting. After I stamped my leaves in Sweet Corn, I inked the stamp again with either Faded Brick or Honey Mustard so the leaves would also have dimension.

Step 4: As a final step, I used Coliro metallic watercolors to paint with a tiny paintbrush the veins on only some of the leaves. (Nobody has time to paint all those!) This added such a pretty metallic touch and finished the card nicely.

Step 5:  Of course, I taped this panel to a folded notecard and paired it with a red Gina K. envelope.
