Manatee Birthday by Victoria

Posted by Victoria Vernam on

Step 1: Taking your lawn fawn mermaid cardstock die cut a stitched rectangle with the largest of the lawn fawn rectangle dies.

Once cut place in the Sizzix pearl dot embossing folder and run through your die cutting machine.

Step 2: Take some watercolour card stock, I used Strathmore but you can use any. Die cut a heart using the Lawn Fawn outside stitched heart stackable (the largest heart)

Step 3: Using Tim Holtz distress oxide Salty Ocean on the bottom of the heart and then peacock feathers on the top blend together till you are happy with the colours add a little chipped sapphire around the edge to give it some depth. Using the distress sprayer or your hand splatter some water over the heart and blot with a paper towel.

Step 4: Stamp the manatees from the lawn fawn manatee-rific stamp set and the Seaweed, fish and Hearts from the sublime stamp set onto some white card stock ( I use Copic x-press smooth card stock)

I colored the manatees with Copics using the below:

Girl manatee W6, W5, W4,W3 ( add a little dotted detail with W7)

Boy manatee W7,W6,W5,W4 (add a little dotted detail with W8)

Seaweed G28

Fish YR04

Heart R27

Step 5: Now to make the sentiments

Taking some black cardstock, use your embossing buddy to de static your card and then stamp the sentiments with Versamark ink, cover with white embossing powder and heat with a heat gun. Cut the sentiments to size, I used my mini guillotine which is perfect for the job.

Step 6: Card assembly time

Adhere the heart to the embossed panel using foam tape.

Take the manatees, I bend them with my fingers to add some dimension then with some small foam tape stick them in place on the heart.

Add the seaweed and hearts flat to the heart with some glue (I used Zig 2 way glue) then add the little fish with a bit of foam tape.

Add some foam tape to the sentiments and adhere these to the card.

Finally add some score tape to the back of your mermaid card stock panel and stick this to your A2 card base and your done, one fun and beautiful card made.
