Astronaut Birthday Card by Elena

Posted by Elena Roussakis on

This card is ready for a birthday party! I love the moon, handing out the cake, and everybody has a party hat on! The rocket balloon and the party-ready sentiment round out this stellar birthday card.

Step 1: I started out by stamping and die-cutting all of my images, and then colored them using copic markers. Something I always love to do as a finishing touch is to add little accents with a white gel pen. I find it makes the images really pop!

Step 2: Once I finished coloring the images, I set them aside and got started on creating the rest of the card. Behind the images, I used a new die that is meant to coordinate with the Astronauts stamp set - the Constellation scene die. It's a must-have, in my opinion! I love the wonky shape of the outline die alone, or you can take it a step further like I did and cut into the shape using the constellation dies. Such a fun way to add a galaxy background!

Step 3: I backed the black constellation layer in white cardstock before adhering it to the patterned paper base. I wanted the stars to peek through in a bright white, and not be muddled by the pattern.

The patterned paper was cut with a Wonky Stitches die. The irregular stitching lines add to the whimsy of this card!
