Interactive Kite Card

Posted by Jenn Li on

Hi crafty friends! Today I am sharing with you an interactive pendulum card featuring adorable Lawn Fawn stamps! I hope it brings some happy spring vibes during these winter days!

Step 1: Stamp, color, and die cut images and "Hello" sentiment from Lawn Fawn's Yay, Kites! I used Copic markers to color in the images (squirrel: E70, E71, E74, R30; bird: BG10, BG11, BG13, YR21 R30; bunny: W1, R30). For the kites, I had a scrap of patterned paper and simply stamped the kite images onto that and die cut them out. Then I added white highlights to all images with a white gel pen.

Step 2: Cut out slimline card panels, one with scalloped edges and a smaller one with stitched details. Emboss the scalloped panel with a polka dot embossing folder.

Step 3: Create the background on the smaller slimline panel by creating clouds with a cloud stencil and Distress Oxide tumbled glass ink.

Step 4: Cut out two grassy hills (Lawn Fawn Meadow Borders) from green cardstock and small flowers (Lawn Fawn Mushroom House) from pink, purple, and yellow cardstock.

Step 5: Adhere the grass, flowers, bunny, bird, smaller kites and sentiment.

Step 6: Assemble the pendulum mechanism for the larger kite with squirrel and be sure to test the pendulum action before continuing (ask me how I know!).

Step 7: Add a double layer of foam tape on the back of the front panel and adhere it to the scalloped panel.

Step 8: Glue the entire card front to the card base.

Step 9: To decorate the inside, cut another grassy hill and some more flowers and glue it on the bottom of the inside. Stamp a happy sentiment in Lawn Fawn mermaid ink.

I hope this inspires you to try making a pendulum card! You can even modify this to have birthday balloons or hot air balloons swinging in the sky! Happy crafting!
